Da UrbanJourney:

If you’re anything like us, Italian cuisine probably ranks right up there with some of the best food in the world. From pizzas to pastas, risottos and suckling pig, it’s hard not to fall in love with the fresh colors, aromas and flavors of a good Italian meal. Here at UrbanJourney, we love our food and we love sharing our finds with you, so read on to discover some of our favorite Italian spots in Singapore.

Buko Nero

A family run hidden gem in Tanjong Pagar, this small and intimate restaurant has a relaxed ambience and flavorful Italian dishes with a slight Asian twist. Try the Wagyu Beef Carpaccio, Squid Ink Risotto, or the Pannacotta with Coconut Foam. Be sure to book ahead, as this cozy eatery has a maximum capacity of just 20 diners. The menu is small too, but the constant change and differing daily set menus keep us coming back.

WHAT WE LOVE

Buko Nero, which means “hole in the wall”, may be small, but it offers loads of charm and reasonable prices for the elegant, yet unpretentious Asian-influenced Italian food.

Capri

Step into Capri and you feel as if you were dining along the coast of Southern Italy. Part of this may be attributed to the amicable host, Luca, who will take care of your every need with warm Italian hospitality. Then, of course, there is the food. Capri offers some of the most authentic Italian food you’ll find in Singapore. The pastas are made from scratch, the ingredients are fresh and vibrant, and the dishes manage to be rustic yet complex at the same time. For a true Italian experience, try one of the pizzas made in the exposed brick pizza oven.

WHAT WE LOVE

This restaurant exudes Italiano with its authentic food and ambience. Meats lovers should try the Pappardelle al ragu’ napoletano (Chef ‘s Recommendation), a dish consisting of pork ribs, veal, onions and peeled tomatoes, cooked in clay-pot for seven hours and served with homemade pappardelle pasta

La Braceria

The Italian dishes here are straight out of the Amalfi Coast, along with some Northern favorites. The wood-burning oven lends the perfect texture and flavor to the fabulous pizzas, which feature thin crusts, vibrant tomato sauce, and an assortment of high-quality toppings. For a buttery, melt-in-your-mouth treat, we highly recommend the Risotto con Porcini e Profumo di Tartufo

WHAT WE LOVE

We are pizza fanatics, and when we say the pizzas here are good, they are good! Make the drive to Bukit Timah, and we can assure you that you won’t regret it.

Latteria Mozzarella

As soon as you enter Latteria Mozzarella, you know you’re in cheese heaven. Here you can find 11 types of cheeseon the menu, which should fulfill even a diehard cheese fan’s cravings. Let’s not forget the sumptuous dishes on offer too. The plus point, (yes the plus point after all that!) is this eatery’s hip and happening location at Duxton Hill.

WHAT WE LOVE

Sitting on the outdoor patio, and savoring the delicate flavors of a creamy, white Sfoglia cheese, washed down with a glass of excellent Italian wine.

OSO

OSO is one of our favorite go-to Italian restaurants because the food is consistently oh-cosi-buono (Oh so good in Italian). The ingredients in the dishes here are sourced straight from Italy, which means your meals are guaranteed to taste like the real deal. It also doesn’t hurt that the menu items are prepared by head chef Diego, who once held sway over the kitchen at the Four Seasons Hotel in Tokyo and Milan.

WHAT WE LOVE

The Burrata Cheese is to die for, and the special wine room makes for a great setting for special occasions.
